May 2025 - Art Deco Blue Lady

About the Image(s)

I created this image prior to my knee surgery in March. I call it Art Deco Lady originally in color and changed to BW using an adjustment layer. A FF camera with 25-105 lens @ 70mm, F5, 4 second shutter, ISO 250.
Making sure the stature was secure and would not move, I placed string lights in strategic locations and simultaneously opening the shutter and moving the lights for a duration of 4 seconds. This took a few trials before I achieved some desirable images.
I found it helpful to dress in black and have black gloves on my hands while moving the lights. This is a trial-and-error project but with perseverance and patience you will achieve a desirable outcome.

Ella,
Stunning. As I looked at the image, I thought, "I hope she tells us how she did that". I am not sure i will try and duplicate your technique but I love the concept.

Hope you knee heals quickly and rehab goes smoothly. I have had 4 joint replacement and all were pretty much painless. My knees have not yet been done and hoping it will not come in the near future. Heal quickly and back to shooting. Susan   Posted: 05/09/2025 20:51:54
