April 2025 - Glass Coffee Table

About the Image(s)

My girlfriend and me were visiting a furniture store when I saw this very interesting glass coffee table. The only camera I had was my cell phone and decided to take the image. The challenge was the lighting with the glass table top catching all of the glare & reflections in the room. The carpeting had a pattern as well which was visible through the glass table top. What to do? I sent the image to my computer and opened it in Photoshop.
Cell camera settings were 1/40, F 1.9, ISO 738 which is another clue as to the challenges of the lighting. I selectively dodged and burned some areas, straightened the image, added an oil paint texture to help conceal the busy carpet. Converted the image to B/W using an adjustment layer, added a 3 px grey stroke and called it done.
