About the Image(s)
Nelson Ghost Town is an abandoned gold mine close to Las Vegas with old mine buildings and decaying cars ??“ a real magnet to photographers such as myself who are captivated by such subjects!
Captured on my last visit to the States in March 2014 using a Panasonic G3 converted to infrared fitted with an Olympus 9-18mm f4 lens set at 15mm (35mm equivalent 30mm), 1/640 sec at f5.6, ISO 160.
Converted to pure monochrome in SEP 2 and further processed following my normal workflow. Finessed in Topaz DeNoise AI and sharpened using the High Pass filter in Overlay mode and sharpening halos removed where necessary.

Hi Peter
This looks like a photographers dream but as always you have scouted round found the perfect composition the 2 cars perfectly placed its almost like the Marie Celeste everything left in place as it was when it was abandoned now nature is having its say and reclaiming the land.
As always wonderful texture and detail throughout perfect sky.
I would love to see more from this location in the future.   Posted: 03/09/2025 15:05:05

Hi Peter: The old building, vintage cars and overgrown Vegetation are clues for the ghost town. Very interesting composition with the car (Oldsmobile?) as a leading line. Tack sharp with great tonal range. This location is a photographer's dream with a number of vintage vehicles in arrested decay. I believe this ghost town was also the site for a movie location in the past. Another outstanding image.   Posted: 03/10/2025 05:30:24
Peter, a super image.
The second car adds to the composition.
I wonder if the second car could be a Studebaker.
I like the way the clouds seem to point in the same direction as the cars.   Posted: 03/15/2025 04:30:04

Peter,
When i take such an image, it seems to monotone. You have done a great job in providing depth to the image and making the old car standout. Well done. Susan   Posted: 03/30/2025 06:29:17
