February 2025 - Phoenix Water Park

About the Image(s)

One of my girlfriends and I went to Phoenix and surrounds and stopped at the Phoenix Water Park. Since it has not rained here since March 2024 there was not much water to see. The area, however, has some interesting walk ways and this is one that caught my eye. An FF camera with a 24-105 lens 1/160, F8, ISO 100. In post camera production, of course, there were all kinds of power lines which I took time to remove, cropped image, did some selective dodging and burning, and fixed the dreaded sharpening halos. I added a slight vignette, sharpened the image, added a 3px grey stroke and called it done.

Ella, what an interesting combination of shapes!
Very well seen and processed. Your viewpoint was perfect.
I feel that it might be be an improvement to remove the structure at the top right, but it does serve to frame the image. I am in two minds about this.   Posted: 02/12/2025 10:26:22

John & Peter: I did look that that during post and thought it looked funny without it. The angle matches the one feature below and decided to leave it. This one had a lot of power lines which I had to remove and thought that was sufficient in the removal department.
I appreciate your feedback. Thank you   Posted: 02/13/2025 15:59:45

Ella - a very strong image with great impact and so well composed. The interplay of the various shapes, patterns and textures works so well. The benefit of the removal of the steelwork upper right is debatable - like John I am in two minds here.   Posted: 02/13/2025 10:56:25

Hi Ella,

What a fun photo! A perfect natural frame for the building in the background. The texture and patterns created by the perforated metals and structure are fantastic.   Posted: 02/16/2025 14:25:04
