Image made May 7th 2024 at Seaton Sluice.
Sony A900 ISO400 Minolta 28-105mm zoom at 70mm 1/125 f13 on a tripod.
Down at the coast again, looking for images, I thought the shape of this seaweed looked promising.

Hi John
A seaside mosaic love the sweep of the seaweed and so well positioned in the frame, lovely texture on the beach surface and the shells beautifully placed within the frame your eye again catches something I would have walked past superbly composed and and seen I really like it.   Posted: 02/09/2025 19:56:45

Ian, thank you for your comments. I do occasionally look for shapes among the seaweeds but usually unsuccessfully! This specimen just asked to be captured.   Posted: 02/12/2025 10:28:44

Hi John: At first glance I thought the piece of seaweed was some sort of exotic sea creature with a long tail. Again, most would have probably walked right by this. I love your composition and textures of the sand and shells. I'm wondering if a slight vignette might add to focusing on the piece of seaweed.   Posted: 02/11/2025 23:08:59

Ella, thank you for your comments. I shall look at a vignette.
There is a lot of seaweed at this location but finding an isolate and photogenic example can be difficult. Interestingly, last week in Wales there were many rocks but no seaweed...   Posted: 02/12/2025 10:34:41

John - a superb image of nature's inbuilt graphics artist! The shape and form are close to perfection and your seeing eye has triumphed once again - as Ella posted most folk would have walked by without noticing it. The background is so complimentary - ecen the dark and light stones are well positioned and the textures and tonal range are spot on.
I agree with Ella re. a vignette - all my images have a slight vignette applied in CEP4 Darken/Lighten Centre with the following settings ...
Shape 1, Centre Luminosity 0%, Border Luminosity -50%, Centre Size 95%. Just enough to concentrate the eye into the image without being obtrusive.   Posted: 02/13/2025 09:52:36

Lovely capture John, I really like the curve and leading line of the seaweed. The rocks and shells add to this natural still life.   Posted: 02/16/2025 13:30:38
