About the Image(s)
I photographed this scene in June at the Monmouth Battlefield State Park. There was a lot of haze in the initial photo due to all the canons and muskets being fired. I dehazed, increased the saturation and contrast. Due to the initial haze I lost some of the sharpness of the people. I also included a black & white image as an alternative.
I used an Olympus OM1 with a 12-100 lens. Handheld (next battle I will bring a tripod since my hands shook when canons went off). I will also try a faster shutter speed as well. ISO 200 F9 38mm S/800

Nice shot, I think you made the right adjustment, as the original is very hazy.   Posted: 07/02/2026 13:41:10

I think you did quite well with this. Having photographed reenactments I know the haze from the gunfire is always an issue, but also adds some realism. your point-of-view, being slightly above the battlefield works well. I think I would remove the two gentlemen on the left. I took it into Lr removed the two men and used a high contrast and detail preset to add just a little more pop.   Posted: 07/03/2026 16:36:37
Wow! Thanks! I like your crop much better than mine. Now I need to review my other photos from the re-enactment because there are probably much better ways to crop them. The viewing area for the re-enactment was on a hill with the battlefield below so there was only one way to view it, but I will keep your viewpoint comment in mind for future re-enactments.   Posted: 07/03/2026 19:34:28
Glad you like it. It is just one suggestion. Reeneactments are so interesting to attend and fun to photograph!

Dorinda's version is definitely better as an image.
But the participants in the act are rather relax in the battlefield.   Posted: 07/12/2026 14:17:32

Good point about the relaxed status. This was 30+ minutes into the re-enactment and I think it ended about 5 minutes later. I will look through earlier battle scenes if I decide to enter into a contest that it has more active participants.   Posted: 07/12/2026 22:58:56
