Peacock by Ellen Mondschein

April 2026 - Peacock

About the Image(s)

I photographed this peacock at a sculpture garden in New Jersey in March. I used LR and Topaz AI to slightly enhance the photo colors. I tried unsuccessfully to remove some of the partially cut off feathers but AI did not fill those sections in well at all so I left those feathers in this edit. I will attempt to learn that technique at a later date. I used an Olympus OM1 with a 40-150mm +MC20 Handheld.

Ellen, Very nicely done. While you could remove the feathers around the edges, I don't see it as a big issue. I like the position of the peacock in the image, ever so slightly off center and at a bit of an angle to the viewer. I think that works well. My suggestion is to select the background feathers and adjust the contrast a little. Including my version. Just one option.   Posted: 04/02/2026 23:29:00

Thank you. I appreciate that you included an example. Since I am new to editing this example helps me and is a reminder for me to test out more options when editing.   Posted: 04/03/2026 01:30:08

Thank you. Dorinda changed the contrast but did not crop my photo at all.   Posted: 04/05/2026 00:18:20

Lovely bird and image. Nicely done, I agree that adding a little contrast is a good thing   Posted: 04/08/2026 21:58:13
