About the Image(s)
Taken a few years ago at a nearby track. We had gone with a photo club group with the purpose of taking photos. I don't have the original, but it was taken with my 70-200mm and cropped considerably. I think I may have cropped in too closely on the left so I did "restore" a bit on the left in PS. I did use PS also to remove some clumps of dirt that were flying from the horses' hooves. I prefer the color version but am including the bw for your consideration.

I prefer the monochrome version it has more depth and texture.   Posted: 04/02/2026 11:53:37
Thanks Mark. That's interesting because I was just going to submit the bw but then decided to use the color version.   Posted: 04/02/2026 17:43:19
I agree with Mark that the black & white version has more depth but I prefer the color version. Maybe you can increase the blur in the background of the color version to increase the depth. Although I think the subject looks sharper in the monochrome version.   Posted: 04/03/2026 01:33:31
Nice sharp image of the front jockey I think the white helmet pulls the eye away and I would clone out or blur the rider with the white helmet

Good point, Judy. I wanted to include him as the "competitor" but I could either clone him or select the helmet and make it a darker color???   Posted: 04/04/2026 19:51:02
I think cloning him out would be best since the jockey holding back is your focus I would temove all of him and his legs and horse   Posted: 04/04/2026 20:58:48
I too prefer the B&W version. Monochrome also helps relieve the problem with the second rider. To be honest mass cloning is not something I'm a fan of.   Posted: 04/08/2026 21:42:06
The B&W version has more texture on the skins. The subject is sharp.
I agreed with Jody. Why you need to remove a big portion of the image!!   Posted: 04/11/2026 12:51:20
