About the Image(s)

DSC5938 copy.jpg is a copy of the unedited raw file. I shot this at Silver Falls State Park in the Cascade foothills east of Salem,OR last week. Nikon Z8, 51mm, f/11, 0.6 secs, ISO 64 with a polarizer on.

Woodland Blur.jpg is a copy of my edit from this file. I used the Adamski effect. First I flipped the file horizontally. Then I copied this layer and created a separate layer using motion blur. I superimposed the original file on the blurred layer and used the paintbrush to show some of the original file detail. Adjustments were made to curves and color balance globally. I added additional clarity to the sharp layer.

When I showed this image to another photographer friend, she told me I was using the Adamski effect. I did not realize that it had a name! There are lots of YouTube tutorials on this technique if anyone is interested.

Interesting affect, I like the original raw file as well and think it would also make a good standard image.   Posted: 11/01/2025 15:53:44
