This is another image of the Yaquina Head Lighthouse from my recent trip to the coast. I scouted this location on a previous trip and returned about an hour before sunset. This was shot with my Nikon Z8 and an F mount 70-200mm tele lens on a tripod from a vantage point very close to where I launched my drone for the image I submitted last month. I was trying to create a soft focus, dreamy look. I chose a 1 sec exposure to slightly blur the waves. (ISO 400, f/16). Initial edits in ACR to straighten the frame, correct the underexposure, adjust tonality, increase warm color saturation and decrease cool color saturation. In PS I did some dodging & burning with curves layers, increased midtone contrast, added a light to the lighthouse, and used TK Panels 9 to create a subtle Orton Effect.

Very nice, the original isn't bad either.   Posted: 07/04/2025 16:16:15

I think you did well with this image and accomplished your goal. Sometimes softer colors and light produce a very appealing image. This is one of them.   Posted: 07/06/2025 01:39:41

Well taken. The exposure time is good to show the wave motions.   Posted: 07/06/2025 15:07:44

Nice view and sky color. I would like to take HDR instead of a single shot and 2/3 sky in my frames.   Posted: 07/10/2025 06:02:23

Thank you Phu. I intentionally wanted to show the waves in the frame, thus the 1/3 for the sky. I avoid HDR unless absolutely necessary.   Posted: 07/16/2025 19:02:02

Nicely done Patrick. I like your choice a shutter speed, good mix of blur and detail in the waves. I like how the added light sets the time later in the evening. thanks for including the original, just for giggles I like to try editing them.   Posted: 07/16/2025 18:44:00

Thank you Jody. The lighthouse actually does light up, but I wasn't smart enough to capture that, so I had to add it later. Choice of color is so subjective! I prefer the blues in my submission, without so much aqua. Are you using a calibrated monitor?   Posted: 07/16/2025 19:08:36
