I've been doing a little bit of macro shooting recently, just for a change of pace. I came across this snail in our back yard and thought it might be cool to see if I could capture an image of it on the glass top table on the back porch. Some trial and error (mostly error) and I got one frame that I thought was halfway decent. It turns out that snails actually move faster than you think when shooting close up.
Nikon Z8, Nikkor 60mm macro, f/18, 1/40 sec, ISO 200. Processed in ACR and PS. I believe I was using a tripod for this shot. I believe I was using a tripod for this shot. In hindsight I should have increased the iso and shot this handheld.

I like this very much. Great job with focus and I think the lighting and reflection also work well. As an aside, I have to admit having spent time photographing a snail in my yard, too.   Posted: 05/08/2025 01:25:05
