This month’s image comes from last years trip to Cape San Blas. I call this "Two men fishing” as usual if you have a better name please let me know lol. I was photographing a passing sailboat and some pelicans that were flying near the beach, when these folks caught my eye. They were out of position so I needed to move a 100 yards or so down the beach to put them between me and the sun. The image was taken at 105mm and f22, hoping to get some good starburst affect. Developed from the RAW image, contrast, sharpening, and levels were used with a live filter mask to tie fit to a specific luminosity range. Contrast and levels were tied to the highlights and the unsharp mask was done to the shadow areas. Cropped in using a 1.618:1 golden ratio setting. I am including both the finished image and the SOC jpg.
Looking forward to your input.

Thanks for including your original. I'm not sure if it is a swell or if they are just in a very small boat but it almost looks as if they are just poised on the water. At first I thought you had some sensor dust but then realized it is the end of their line flying through the air. That made me think of a title such as "fishing for the sun" or something along those lines. I might suggest cropping a little off the bottom since the fishermen are so small in the image. Otherwise, very pleasant image.   Posted: 02/03/2025 23:39:53

Thanks Dorinda, I believe they were in a small rented kayak. I seriously considered cropping both the bottom and top.   Posted: 02/04/2025 00:23:05

Great sunrise image and the two fisherman add to what might otherwise be a boring image.   Posted: 02/04/2025 12:55:19

You did manage to get the starburst effect. I can see that the silhouette of the 2 men is not merged together, well done.
Would it be better if the raft is inside the reflections of the setting sun.   Posted: 02/09/2025 14:00:28
