Our camera club theme for this month is at work. I took these images in Italy in October of the Swiss Guard in front of the Vatican. Image 886 was what I wanted to capture, but the background was all blown out. The background image was good, but was missing the second guard. I brought them into photoshop and created the final image called Swiss Guards. Both guards are in the image and it has the background I wanted. I had to get rid of some of things in the background like the lamp post because when I copied and pasted the background into the blown out background shot, the post was growing out of this head. These a cell phone pictures so they got a little soft when I increased their size.

Wow, what a lot of work! My question this month is how are you transferring your cell phone photos to your computer? Looking for how others do it.
As for this photo, it looks HDR to me. It might be the original colors but to my eye it looks a little over sharpened.
Nice removal of the post.

I would agree with Becca, a lot of work. I note that your colors have changed with the original, look at the red versus burgundy, and usually that would not matter, except this is a guard uniform and would be noticed.   Posted: 04/03/2023 15:09:31

A lot of times with 2 people (flowers, birds) it splits your attention, but for this image, the 2nd guard adds to the story. I think you did a nice job of putting these 2 images together. I don't if it is the colors or the texture, but it almost looks like the image is a painting.   Posted: 04/07/2023 19:57:17

You started with a good image that just lacked something to make it stand out and hold the viewer's attention. The addition of the figure etc. on the left has added the extra bit of the story that was needed. Well done. There are a couple of minor details that I feel would make an even stronger image - increasing the situation of the 2 uniforms to that of your original image and re-working around the guard on the right to remove the halo around him   Posted: 04/14/2023 07:13:11

A very interesting image. The guard in the middle looks somewhat artificial, but maybe that can be improved, as John suggested, by removing the halo around him. Having two main subjects is often not recommended. It could have been OK here, but there is no connecting between the two men, except the identical uniforms.   Posted: 04/16/2023 00:01:10

You have done a pretty good job of the composite. It takes a bit of practice.
I quite like the composition of two, as they are looking in different directions. Lots of nice curves and lines.
I have a USB cable permanently hanging out of my desktop.
Just plug in the phone and open file manager. Old tech, but effective.   Posted: 04/28/2023 07:12:39
