About the Image(s)

The picture was taking from a 50-story-high terrace of a nearby building. One can walk around and have a 360-degree view of the city. The photo is a crop of the original. I could have cropped in-camera but, to be honest, I didn't see the image when taking the original. When processing, I noticed that a closer look can better convey the feeling of living in a cramped space. Technical specifications: 150mm. lens, 1/6 sec. at f/18, ISO 50, tripod.

I like your vision. The original is just another travel image, but the close up shows great patterns broken up nicely by the buildings on the upper left. I keep wondering if content aware to the bottom left trees would improve this or not.   Posted: 09/04/2023 14:44:43

Hi Jose, you show this human beehive with such detail, structure and rhythm. I think that the original that shows the whole buildings actually presents the idea very well. I think that the cropped image becomes more like an abstract with structures and forms. I could not resist trying to see how a smaller part of the image would look like in that sense. What do you think?   Posted: 09/04/2023 15:01:12

There are countless way to crop the original. I like your idea, since it makes the picture more abstract. I decided to keep some trees from the original, to show that there is still some green in the middle of this cement jungle.   Posted: 09/19/2023 11:51:24

I'm always impressed that you can see patterns in almost any situation. Once again I like Kirsti's crop as it emphasizes the pattern even more.
I do find the trees to be distracting in your presentation.   Posted: 09/07/2023 14:44:03

In Hong Kong we have many buildings like this, typical of crowded cities with limitation of land expansion. I prefer your cropped image because I can appreciate some buildings with different pattern and color at the background. To me cloning out the trees as suggested by Bob is a good idea.   Posted: 09/07/2023 23:11:13

I like your cropped image, indeed the original seems more like a travel image. I also like Kirsti's crop. About whether I would clone out the trees, not sure.. I also gives a break in the pattern, which I like. Although I might clone out the small clutter of trees at the right hand bottom. Then you have breaks in 3 spots only, like a triangle.. ;)   Posted: 09/11/2023 23:10:11
