About the Image(s)
The photo for this month was taken few years ago in East Africa before the Covid pandemic. It was evening when I could see the highest mountain in Africa, the Mount Kilimanjaro. After taking several photos a giraffe came slowly to the foreground so that I could make the image. It was getting dark and the mountain turned into a blue silhouette. I denoise the image with Topaz, then post process with PS and Color Efex 6.

Hi Tony! I think that this would be a perfect landscape image on its own right, with the lovely light and the subtle hues in the grass, and the mighty mountain rising in the blue mist in the background. It must have been a thrill to watch the giraffe to appear and settle himself on the perfect spot. Congratulations!   Posted: 09/03/2023 13:58:45
The late lighting gives this a dreamy soft look that is very appealing. Having the mountain in the distance makes all the difference.   Posted: 09/04/2023 14:41:30
Interesting that we both have pictures from East Africa this month. We were in Kenya, so not close to Mt Kilimanjaro. I think your composition is perfect as you have not only shown us the animal, but the environment where she lives. The late afternoon lighting is wonderful.   Posted: 09/07/2023 14:28:53
Great image with nice details and very nice composition taking in the environment. If there is anything I could comment on, then it would be that you probably made quite an extreme crop or there was quite some noise already in the image, as I can still see some in the sky and mountain. But this is a minor point, I love the scene! Still dreaming of going on safari in Africa too some time in future.   Posted: 09/11/2023 22:55:13
What I like the most in this photo is the composition, with parallel diagonal lines in the left tree, the neck of the giraffe, and even the trees on the right. The Kilimanjaro in the background serves to anchor the main scene. Nice, muted tones, typical of the African savannah. I don't see anything that can be improved.   Posted: 09/19/2023 17:08:26
