About the Image(s)
Recently we took a tour of Egypt. As we walked thru the market, I saw this man with a spinning wheel. I liked the colors of his threads, but thought it would be a better B&W. I cropped and masked the pictures to make sure the highlights were around him and his wheel. Maybe a color version with very bright threads would also work? I did put my signature on this, which won’t happen with normal submissions.

You got a very good B&W rendition for this environmental portrait. However, I prefer the original color version, especially if the reds and yellows are pumped up. You had a challenge with strong light and shadows, but you managed them very well. On another note: I find his expression a little awkward, not very friendly.   Posted: 07/06/2026 23:02:06
Hi George! I think both versions work well, with a different feel. I think I would choose the monochrome one for its timeless quality and beautiful tones. The color version maybe concentrates more on the scene while the B&W is more about the proud craftsman himself?   Posted: 07/07/2026 20:43:50
