Street Painter by George Tyler

April 2026 - Street Painter

About the Image(s)

Walking the streets of Stockholm found this painter. We bought one of his paintings, and he let me take his picture while he worked. I cropped the picture and masked out many distracting people, or white objects.
Camera: Samsung Ultra 25S phone.

Nice capture of a scene during your trip. The flag and the houses on the canvas tell where the photo was taken. Even if you shot him from behind, his face is recognizable and shows concentration on the work. Good that you bought a paint from him!   Posted: 04/10/2026 13:40:52

The painters are a fairly common scene traveling Europe and a nice memory. We bought a picture from a painter in Stockholm on our trip last June. I don't have that painting with me but the style looks similar. I think the image to my eye is a little flat and I would probably start by adding some mid-tone contrast. Attached image of a pallet that may have been from this painter.   Posted: 04/10/2026 15:13:26

Hi George,
what a nice travel photo - it makes the painting you bought extra special to have its history documented in this way. The background anchors it to time and place, and I love the way you show the artist absorbed in his work. I think that an alternative crop might direct attention even more to the creative process, still retaining enough of the surroundings, although you would lose the pallet, the tin and the brushes?   Posted: 04/11/2026 16:57:36

I like Kirsti's idea to crop some of the bottom.   Posted: 04/15/2026 20:23:59

I think it is a nice street photo taken with your Samsung ultra mobile phone. The colors and the sharpness are good. I have no suggestion to change anything.   Posted: 04/18/2026 16:23:48
