About the Image(s)

Not long ago I had a trip to Romania and visited the town Sighisoara, The old town is on a hill with many restaurants and small hotels. However, there are residential places for local people, schools, churches and a monastery. I saw these girls running in the street and I held up my camera to take some pictures. One of them looked back and smiled. I was lucky that I had used a fast shutter speed of 1/400. The image was post processed in PS, adding saturation, with darkening and lightening here and there.

Hi Tony, what a lucky street photo opportunity that you have used so well! The ageless narrow cobble-stoned street that winds up the hill and the muted pastel colors of the houses make a lovely background to the modern girls, who show exactly the same faded rose in their jackets. I love the movement you captured, and the spontaneous contact of that smile. - I wonder if you could lighten the center a bit and maybe play with local brightness and contrast to make the girls separate from the background a little better?   Posted: 03/08/2025 04:03:16

Tony, A very nice image that takes me to that place and time. I like the vibrant colors. I agree with Kirsti that the people are somewhat "lost" in the image and I might try to bring them out a little more. My only other comment would be perhaps to darken the sky a little.   Posted: 03/16/2025 11:17:55

I love photographing in these old European towns with their cobblestone streets and vibrant colors. The girl looking back gives the picture greater impact and lifts it up from the ordinary.   Posted: 03/17/2025 10:43:42

What makes this picture is the girl turning around and smiling at the camera. The composition is very interesting, with a leading line from the bottom to the background, on which one girl is walking. The facades and their colors provide information on the kind of place you were taking the photo. I don't see anything to change.   Posted: 03/25/2025 15:56:17

Great capture of the moment. I too wonder if a soft radial filter with slightly more exposure on the people might help.   Posted: 03/25/2025 16:20:37
