The rolling hills of Morovia in the Czech Republic by Anges van der Logt, PPSA

November 2024 - The rolling hills of Morovia in the Czech Republic

About the Image(s)

Taken on my recent trip to the Czech Republic, with a tele lens. Did some cropping, dodge and burning.
Any comments or input? (was thinking of deleting the electrical wires and poles, but it also adds to the story)

This is very reminiscent of the Palouse in Washington state, one of my favorite landscape locations. What part of the Czech Republic is this ? There are lines and forms, curves and triangles everywhere in this image. The image has clarity in the foreground and dissolves nicely in the haze to the background. I don't mind the wires and poles, they are dark and follow the landscape, however if I were to print this 4 feet wide to hang behind my sofa, I'd probably remove them. I might clone out the very top of the trees that are trying to escape the top center of the image. Very nice image.   Posted: 11/07/2024 20:00:47

Thanks Terry. Glad you like it. Yes I later realized the trees at the top center were too close to the border for my liking as well. Thanks for the input!   Posted: 11/07/2024 22:42:46

Forgot to reply that this is taken in the Moravia area in the Czech Republic. Well known for its many wine yards as well.   Posted: 11/07/2024 22:44:14

Hi Agnes, I just read an article about landscape photography that said it is all about skillful use of light to define the contours and to build the mood of the image, and I think you have done just that. I love the bright diagonals that cross the image. About the poles, I think that they may actually add an element of rhythm.   Posted: 11/09/2024 19:42:33

Very nice composition, with several layers of different tones and shapes dwindling towards the background. Regarding the poles, they don't bother me, but since it's so easy to clone them out, I would do it. I agree with Terry on the trees at the top (and you, too).   Posted: 11/09/2024 23:47:57

This picture is all about the light. The light also emphasizes the many triangles and subtle color differences in the landscape. I presume this was taken soon after sunrise?   Posted: 11/10/2024 18:12:40
