About the Image(s)

This is an image that evolved from a You Tube video I watched about lights and a cheese grater!! The story is that the figure coming out of the spacecraft has crashed landed and the craft is on fire. He thinks he is safe but an alien is lurking in the shadows waiting for him!!

The spacecraft is made from a Smash potato canister (UK members will know what I mean!!) lined inside and out with black paper. If I did it again I would use red inside. I placed the Lego figure just inside and placed a red light through the back. I wanted to create some smoke so lit two incense sticks and held them inside as well. Not too successful!! The reddish glow in top right corner is actually my arm holding the incense sticks. Decided by making it red and adding some grey it would work as smoke etc. I "cut" out two rectangles from the inside of the craft to make windows.

This then evolved further with the purchase of the alien. I took an image of him using the same red light shining onto his front as if the fire was reflecting onto him. I placed him on same level as the Lego figure. Using the clone tool and brushes I extended the glow from the fire to end of left side and painted in some shadow beneath the alien to ground him. I felt that the top of the craft was lost in the black background so used the pencil tool and a colour from the fire to paint along the top and also the bottom. Great fun to do and hope you enjoy it!!
