About the Image(s)

I was recently on a workshop in Homer, Alaska. I was privileged to be able to observe and photograph the eagles from the beach across the bay. It was a wonderful experience. I decide to create a composite showing different shots. I will be interested in your comments. I feel there is something missing or to be added. I am not sure what???

First of all, I LOVE your originals.
You composite is good.
I wonder if you had used three images instead of four. Or maybe centered the larger image?

I love eagles. I have never been to Alaska. The composite is a fun idea. For me, the texture vignette might be a bit strong.Sometimes I use a lower opacity brush and brush off some of the texture to bring the subject back out.   Posted: 03/06/2025 10:24:34

A great composite but I think it a shame that you have lost so much detail in the head shot of the Eagle?
The original images look really good, well done.   Posted: 03/07/2025 11:56:27

I love the individual photos. Somehow, your composite is not focusing on the action. I have 2 suggestions. #1. Use the Rule of Odds and only have the 3 flying eagles diving into the water. Use the headshot by itself. There are numerous ways to showcase him alone. #2. Use the headshot as a Background. Lower the opacity and have the other 3 flying around him at full opacity. Just a few suggestions.   Posted: 03/11/2025 12:37:31

Thanks - I will try that. I just hit a block when trying to create this.   Posted: 03/11/2025 12:39:08

Nice to see that the people here have different suggestions. Your version has clearly provoked interest, which is a sign of a good image. In my opinion, the first tells me s story. Mama eagle is watching her younger one learn maneuvers. There she is not as important as the young ones practicing. But she is present in their minds.   Posted: 03/11/2025 17:30:14

I like your vision/story for the image. As from all comments, I really struggled with this. I felt is was not quite right and have appreciated how everyone sees the image. Thanks   Posted: 03/11/2025 17:33:50

Deborah, beautiful original images and creative idea for your composite! I agree with Fran's suggestion to simplify your composition by featuring just three images, using the eagle's head as a subtle background at lower opacity to enhance the storytelling without losing detail. Your original captures are excellent, and showcasing them clearly will further elevate your final piece.   Posted: 03/30/2025 10:08:55
