About the Image(s)
I really played with this photo.
We had a beautiful white snow recently. I wanted to try to convey something otherworldly.
It is a composite of 3 photos.
1st, I thought of creating an ORB out of a snow scene. I used the tree scene to make the ORB.
What to do with it? I thought snowballs. Then a snowman. Finally, I put the ORB in place of a water feature. Then I added the deer inside.
Finally, I used filters in Topaz Studio 2 to try and convey an otherworldly feel.
Not sure I accomplished it ??“ Your thoughts and ideas are welcome.

Great Composite!
I would love to know how you made the orb!
I think you were very successful. One thing, though, the shadows don't exactly match the light source.   Posted: 03/03/2025 10:53:16

Thanks, Sylvia. You are right. I can take the shadows out.
Making an ORB is easy and fun to try.
1. Open the image in PS
2. Duplicate the Layer
3. Crop to a square
4. Select Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinates>Polar to Rectangle
5.Image Rotation>Flip Vertical
6.Filter>Distort>Polar Coordinates>Rectangle to Polar
And Voila!   Posted: 03/03/2025 11:08:03

Fun image with the snow. I am thinking, in the orb, the deer is a bit tilted, maybe rotating so the deer is walking on even ground in the middle? Adding snowflakes might be fun too. I use Topaz Studio 2 also. Smart Photo Editor is another fun program.   Posted: 03/06/2025 10:19:55
Thanks, Jan. You are right about the straightening the Orb. My first thought was to create several orbs as snowballs rolling down the hill. I think I took the orb to cover the fountain from there. And I will try snow. Thanks!   Posted: 03/11/2025 12:40:40
There are many ways a creative image can be shown. it is up to the artist to make the final decision. Here I would think that the deer as shown gives the impression that the deer is making the orb roll, just as a hamster does with a wheel.   Posted: 03/23/2025 19:22:40
Beautiful!! Just do not send the snow to the UK, hate it!!
I think you have created a stunning image. I especially like the light rays coming in from the top left.
Well done.   Posted: 03/07/2025 11:49:13

Thanks, Angela. I love 1 good snow a year to walk around with my camera. Everything is fresh, quiet, and beautiful. Then, Winter can be over.   Posted: 03/11/2025 12:42:09
I like what you have done - very creative. I think the light rays from the left are great. Well done   Posted: 03/08/2025 14:43:59
Thanks, Debbie. If I try snowflakes I think I will need to take out the sun.   Posted: 03/11/2025 12:43:13
What a creative image. I can imagine this mage in a gallery. To me you worked hard to get all the objects working together.
very well done.   Posted: 03/11/2025 16:26:31

Fran, excellent composite-I especially love the creativity and how seamlessly you've integrated the orb. Like Sylvia mentioned, adjusting the shadows to match the main light source would enhance realism. Jan's idea of straightening the deer within the orb is also worth exploring, but the whimsical tilt works if your goal is a playful feel.   Posted: 03/30/2025 10:05:56
