Spirit of the Falls by Keisha Becerra

January 2025 - Spirit of the Falls

About the Image(s)

For this image, I captured a long exposure of one of our local waterfalls, letting the water flow take on a soft, dreamlike quality. I used my Canon camera with settings of ISO 100, 200mm, -1.3 EV, f/11, and a 2.0-second exposure. These settings allowed me to beautifully capture the movement of the water while keeping the details of the surrounding rocks and foliage intact.

I've been experimenting with blending my photography with my own artwork, and for this image, I wanted to bring that vision to life. I created the face to appear as though it’s blending through or emerging from the waterfall, as if the spirit of the falls is revealing itself. My goal was to create something surreal and thought-provoking, inviting others to see the connection between nature and creativity in a new way.

Nice image but you forgot to include the images that show us what made up the final picture, this is essential in Creative   Posted: 01/07/2025 16:33:33

Thank you for your feedback! I sincerely apologize for not including the additional images that made up the final picture. I thought it was optional, as in previous rounds I noticed some participants included them while others simply described their process.

To clarify, the original photo I used as the base is below. From there, I drew over it to create the final piece ( using a Glitch brush to create the ranbow effect.) I would love to hear your thoughts on image.   Posted: 01/07/2025 18:16:18

It is very good, the rocks and the greenery at the top frame the image beautifully

I do see nature looking back at me - I would say you were successful in your goal. It does make me think.

Nicely framed shot of the waterfall with a shutter speed that allowed plenty of movement to still show in the water. I like what you have done with the face and it has been well blended.
The only niggle I have is that it looks as if her nose is running and it is going down over her lips and chin!! I would perhaps clone in a more hazy bit of water? Just my opinion!
Well done.   Posted: 01/08/2025 16:10:31

A very creative effect. The Woman of the Falls...something I could keep coming back to.   Posted: 01/17/2025 17:55:25
