About the Image(s)

I was in Fairbanks, Alaska in October. We visited a caribou sanctuary. It was shot at 1/160, f5.6, ISO 500 and 74mm.
I used the motion blur filter in Photoshop for the background. I was impressed last month with the other images, so I wanted to try. I decided on black and white with the frame filter. I look forward to your comments

Lovely image and the black and white works well. He has a weight on his head!!
Unusual placing of the frame but I like it and it fits in well. Bluring the background makes the animal stand out more.
I do find thhe lower part a bit too bright so I had a bit of play. In ACR I dropped the exposure and highlights down. I then put a mask on the layer and just exposed the lower area under his neck and the snow. See what you think.   Posted: 12/07/2024 13:19:34

This is a wonderfully creative and striking image! The use of black and white works beautifully to highlight the textures in the caribou's fur and antlers, adding a timeless and elegant feel to the photo. The motion blur effect in the background enhances the separation between the subject and its environment, effectively drawing attention to the caribou. Adding the frame filter is a bold and unique choice-it gives the image a three-dimensional quality that makes it stand out and adds a sense of depth.

One potential refinement might be to slightly soften the transition between the antlers and the motion-blurred background, as the high contrast in some areas creates a bit of a sharp disconnect. Overall, though, this is a creative and well-executed piece that showcases both technical skill and artistic vision. Well done!   Posted: 12/10/2024 20:13:12

I love motion blur for the background and that the antlers go on the other side of the frame.   Posted: 12/17/2024 23:59:27
