About the Image(s)

Taken with my IPhone 14 Pro Max, Focal Length 6.86 mm, Speed 1/470 sec., F/1.8, ISO 80. Post processing ON1 to reduce grain. Photoshop Basic adjustments: Black & White, Cropped, Increase contrast & darkened then duplicated image and brought back the original black & white coloring of the rider and added a vignette. I did like the original colors but felt that the rider did not stand out in the color version. Was black and white the way to go with this image? Does the crop enhance the image?

I think the crop has enhanced the image. I like the mono, but it has unfortunately lost the subjects face in a similarly toned background (as has the colour version). A fraction of a second later he would have been in front of the darker areas behind the open doors!   Posted: 08/05/2026 20:26:07

Very clever to use a black and white conversion to bring out the rider who did not stand out on the background of color. I'm so impressed by how much the lack of color improved the image. Yes, black and white was the way to go. Good cropping too.   Posted: 08/15/2026 00:57:30

Terry, Really sharp image .... looks like a story of a man going shopping. I think your crop is just right....would you consider reducing the background exposure to provide more focus on the cyclist given that there is a lot of detail and contrast in the background ?   Posted: 08/16/2026 10:51:34

Ger, thanks for the suggestion! I do think your version helps separate the rider from the background and takes the image to the next level.   Posted: 08/17/2026 00:02:37
