Charles Shepherd
About the Image(s)
Olympus EM1 mk3; ISO 3200, f4,5, 1/125th.
Taken at a show a few weeks ago, the lighting was reasonable but mainly from behind the artist.
Cropped down to just the main performer & changed to mono. For this image I did try to make it less grainy using Photoshop tools. Also removed the guitar head on the left.

Great shot … I think the backlighting really enhances the image   Posted: 07/01/2026 10:27:37
Charles, I can not believe what a great capture this is (Clear and sharp in spite of the low light. I agree with Ger, the lit background does enhance the image. I also feel that the expression on Ginger's face gives us a sense of his passion for his music. My only suggestion would be to tone down the white cloth between his legs so that it will not distract the viewer. Mono was definitely the way to go with this image. Well done!

Thanks, yes I agree about the bright area. Funny how you don't often see these things in your own photos - I think I was concentrating on the bright area on his left shoulder rather than scanning the whole image!   Posted: 07/11/2026 09:50:36
Excellent shot. The post processing is very nice. I liked the B/W image than the color and the expression of the subject. Yes, I too agree to Terry's suggestion regarding bright area behind the legs.   Posted: 07/09/2026 17:28:56
