Taken with my IPhone 14 Pro Max, in Raw, ISO 80, Focal Length23 MM, Aperture F2.2. I find that when I am trying to photograph flowers, sometimes my IPhone provides a better image than my DSLR. The challenge of this image was the theme which was “Old Everything”. Post processing with Photoshop Basic adjustments, increasing the blur on the background, trying to sharpen the flowers while desaturating and softening the leaves and stems. I really enjoy photographing flowers in their end states. I think their shapes and colors are sometimes much more interesting than the run of the mill freshly opened flower. Finally, to add additional interest I used Stylize - Oil Painting Filter. I also wanted to make the background a color that would be cohesive with the tone and feel of the flowers. It was not quite the color I wanted but was the best I could do. Did my processing choices reflect the theme of “old”?

Terry, I am no expert in flower photography so my comment is a very personal observation. In answering your question, I think the background of your original is more in keeping with the 'old' theme… pink for me denotes freshness and life.   Posted: 04/09/2026 19:20:01

Terry, the old flowers are quite pretty in their old age and look good on the background you have given them. The composition is pleasing. I would have preferred to have the flowers keep a little more of their sharpness in their transition.   Posted: 04/10/2026 00:40:32
