About the Image(s)
Red-winged Blackbird: This photo was taken June 14, 2024 at a wetland along the Boulder Creek path in Boulder, CO. There were several of these male birds in their breeding plumage showing of their colors. This particular one posed for me on the cottonwood tree as he called his mate. I cropped the original a little, increased the shadows and whites on the bird and passed it through Topaz denoise for this final version.
Nikon D500: 500mm, f/5.6, 1/1600s, Auto ISO.

Your control of focus was excellent. The entire subject crisp; the entire background perfectly smooth. Great shot.   Posted: 07/09/2024 03:16:23

Sarita, this is a very good photo of the red-winged blackbird in its natural environment. It is difficult to capture black birds with black eyes and beaks and get all the detail you got. Well done. Jim   Posted: 07/11/2024 15:57:23
Jim, Thank you for your comments. I always find it challenging to photograph the Red-winged Blackbirds.   Posted: 07/17/2024 20:46:58
Sarita, great image - I agree with Kathy's comments. I also think you did a great job with the blacks, it is always a challenge to shoot black animals.   Posted: 07/12/2024 14:35:32
