About the Image(s)
Warbler migration has been in full swing over the past few weeks, and I have been fortunate to see and photograph several species this fall. These small, energetic birds can be challenging to photograph because they move quickly, rarely sit still, and are often hidden among dense foliage.
This particular image of a Magnolia Warbler is one of my favorites. I was able to capture the insect in its mouth, and the bird’s position in the frame highlights just how agile and versatile these little birds can be.
For the final image, I made minor adjustments to the light settings and used Topaz Denoise to reduce noise. I also removed a twig on the left side of the frame to create a cleaner image.

I downloaded this to zoom in more closely to determine whether it is an insect as you assumed, or a leaf as Isaac sees it. Even with the closer examination, I'm just not 100% sure - although it does appear that the green extends into this bird's mouth.
WHERE are you seeing these little lovelies during fall migration? I've viewed them through emerging foliage on the shore of Lake Erie over several spring migrations, but never had the opportunity to get a clear, whole-bird shot. You've really got a nice image here!   Posted: 10/05/2026 23:41:58
