About the Image(s)
I was out to my favorite local state park and this Swainsons Hawk decided to land fairly close. There were a lot of small twigs in the tree around his feet and I took it into PS and removed some. I discovered after seeing the photo, that he had been hunting and had a something in is claw. It still has some grass attached. I used my OM1 mark 2 and a 300mm prime lens with a 1.4 teleconverter. If I’m right the focal length with the two together is 840 full frame equivalent of 35 mm. Fstop was 5.6, SS 640, and the ISO 160. It was a bright sunny day. Hand held.

Ruth, seems to me you got some nice sharpness given that you shot handheld. The pose is very imposing and the eye very intense. The feathers show a lot of detail.   Posted: 08/21/2026 19:27:47
