This image of the Barrred Fruiteaters (Pipreola arcuata) was created in the humid mountains forest of Colombia. It shows an adult male (black head) feeding the juvenile with a worm, a typical parent-offspring behavior often seen shortly after the young leave the nest.
Created with a Nikon Z8 with the Nikkor zoom lens Z100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 @ 400 mm and these settings: ISO 5000 (auto) f/5.6 and 1/500 sec. The image was PP in LightRoom, denoised and cropped.

Isaac this is a colourful image in a natural habitat environment. It is a good story telling image with a sharp focus on the interaction between the birds. My only comment will be that if your dof at f5.6 was at f8 ,you will achieve a sharp focus throughout. An excellent capture with great timing. Posted: 08/05/2026 07:07:31

Very nice capture! The vibrant red beaks of the birds immediately draws my attention to the interaction. The crop works well, giving the subjects enough space while keeping the composition focused on the action. I also like the shallow depth of field-the soft, unobtrusive background beautifully separates the birds from their surroundings and keeps the viewer's attention where it belongs. This image is a real stand-out Isaac, worthy of feature in any quality birding or nature publication (Audubon or TNC calendar ...??). What Denoise app do you use? This image is sharp and clear without any apparent distortion in the feathers or elsewhere. Posted: 08/25/2026 04:53:12
