About the Image(s)
This golden eagle was photographed on Baranof Island, Alaska. Shot with a Nikon Z50 with a 24-200 mm zoom lens at 200mm, 1/100 sec, f-8, ISO 1600. Seems to have a hungry look!

Jerry, indeed the eagles expression is intimidating. The bird is sharp and is in a nice pose, even though is a quasi portrait. I added some light to the feathers and now we can see more detail, also cloned out the distracting elements: stick growing out of the head, and a white patch on the left.   Posted: 01/04/2025 19:30:39

I like your capture Jerry and it is well exposed and captured. Please correct me on the alteration suggested by Isaac, which is not allowed in a nature, in camera, image ? My suggestion would be to crop the bird so that the portrait is more focused on the already strong features of the eagle. Well done.   Posted: 01/08/2025 21:52:58

Gerhard, I didn't understand what you were asking, "Please correct me on ..."

Gerald, if this was going to a "Nature" salon, then the PP is not allowed, but yes, it is allowed in this group   Posted: 01/09/2025 15:28:18

Great capture of a eaglet. As Isaac indicates, always watch your background. take a few steps away for a different view. Sometimes we get so excited to see something we forget to look at the background so we must resort to cropping out like Isaac or Tom did.   Posted: 01/13/2025 15:30:52

I like this image. Great expression and very sharp focus. I would not change anything but I do like Tom's crop as well.   Posted: 01/13/2025 22:22:13

Jerry - Great capture! A staredown like this rom this enormous, majestic bird through my viewfinder would make me nervous - even with a long lens. I agree with Isaac on lightening to draw out more texture and detail in those beautiful feathers. I also like Tom's "portrait" crop but would suggest just a tad more lightening in the very dark areas.   Posted: 01/20/2025 01:49:36
