Yellow Billed Stork by Gerhard Geldenhuys

December 2024 - Yellow Billed Stork

About the Image(s)

My image for this month is a Yellow billed stork taken in the wild in our Kruger National park from my vehicle as one is not permitted to get out.
With the necessary camera support I used a Nikon D850 ISO 160 Nikkor 200-500 mm lens at f8 and 1/250 sec shutter speed.
The Yellow billed stork is a large stork and feeds on fresh water fish usually swallowed whole. It forages by wading walking through shallow water, probing with its long, partially open bill.

Gerhard, image is very sharp and at peak of action. The yellow billed storks from Africa are much nicer that the regular white storks we have here in Florida. The fact that has the fish gives the additional interest to the image.   Posted: 12/04/2024 00:44:53

A very powerful image that you captured. The colors are exceptional and the pose of the wings add to the strong story. Great job   Posted: 12/04/2024 17:26:31

Gerhard, Excellent image. Perfect lighting, both the bird and fish are very sharp. I really like the composition. Maybe burn the bright spot on the fish a little but it is a great image nevertheless. It is a pretty stork indeed.   Posted: 12/11/2024 18:09:26
