I liked this image of the 2 blue-footed boobies engaged in their courtship dance. It is hard to express this behavior in a shot- much easier with a video. I felt this image did show some key characteristics
of the dance, such as the lifted foot and the tilting of the head while whistling.
I took this picture in Punta Suarez, Española Island in the Galapagos in May.
Shot with Canon EOS R5, handheld.
1/320 at f/11 ISO800
105 mm (RF 24-105 f.2.8 L IS USM lens)
Minimal editing, adjusted exposure and blacks and whites.

How fortunate you are to travel to this area. Seeing that you used a 105 lens, you must be able to get quite close to your subject. I did haze removal and a vertical crop, as I found the white rock distracting. What do you think? Posted: 12/02/2024 13:39:49

Gloria, the blue footed boobies have a very elaborated and specific courting dance. I like Kathy's crop since it gives prevalence to the birds. They are sharp, unfortunately the beaks are overlapping covering one of the bird's eye, taking away some points. Posted: 12/04/2024 00:48:30

Your capture of the birds is very good . The background with the white bird droppings is a bit distracting and Kathy's suggestion helps to eliminate some of it. Overall a nice picture and well done. Posted: 12/13/2024 00:36:04
