Titmouse With Acorn by Sarita Yeola

November 2024 - Titmouse With Acorn

About the Image(s)

Tufted Titmouse: I noticed a few Tufted Titmouse playing in the Laurel leaf Oak from my office window. I grabbed my camera, opened the windows in hopes of catching something interesting. I wasn't disappointed. I had not noticed that the bird was removing an acorn from the tree until I saw the images on the computer. The second titmouse was also in the original frame but it was blurry so I decided to make this crop. I wish my depth of field was higher. I also brightened the bird a little in Lightroom and passed the image through Topaz Denoise.

Sarita, you always find a good shot. Titmouse with acorn is so apt...and well done. If I were you I'd tone down the blue just a bit.   Posted: 11/06/2024 20:38:42

Hi Sarita I love the image - you really got THE moment! The blue feet holding on to the branch are amazing. I like the blurred background.   Posted: 11/13/2024 21:44:58

SArita, I have never seen one Titmouse yet. I do not think they come to South Florida. You were able to capture the bird in a different position and trying to get the acorn which enhances the image. It is sharp and the crop appropriate. It is unfortunate that the leaf is in front of it. This would be my crop iteration.   Posted: 11/14/2024 16:38:40

Hi Isaac, Thank you for your comments. I like your crop as well. Ofcourse I wished those leaves were not in the front but then I thought the photograph shows the complete environment that these titmouse like to hang out in.
I looked at the range of the Tufted Titmouse, they reside in central Florida but the range does not extend to South Florida.   Posted: 11/14/2024 19:54:42

A beautiful shot. Perfect lighting, and a perfect degree of softening of the background behind the bird.   Posted: 11/19/2024 21:07:54

An outstanding image, very sharp. This is a unique image as you can actually view it in both directions. As an experiment I flipped it. I really like it both ways!   Posted: 11/27/2024 02:20:53
