About the Image(s)
I recently purchased a water drop trigger kit. It allowed me to trigger my camera shutter and flash to capture water droplets. I captured the images with a Nikon D850, a 50 mm 1.8 lens with an extension tube attached. The middle image was of white milk and the two end images were with plain water. I used a solid color layer to color the milk. The water ones were captured with colored filters on my flash.

HI Gregory. I am always amazed by photographers who are able to catch droplet splashes, and I had no idea that there was such a thing as a waterdrop trigger kit. I like the blue one best, but all three are great and definitely other worldly. I'd be interested in seeing the milk version in black and white. The thicker texture of the milk really comes through. Hi Greg - You certainly know your color wheel. Beyond those beautifully formed water droplets, it is the colors chosen for this image which stand out for me. The green background as a secondary color shows off the the primary colors in all the same value quite nicely. Apparently, you have also mastered that waterdrop trigger kit with the use of an extension tube too! Did you use a thickener to help with the splash? Very well done, although more impressive in my mind, is all the thoughtful effort behind your presentation. No suggestions. Posted: 08/13/2026 03:22:25

Thank you for your comments and feedback. For my first go, I did not use thickener. When I try some new droplets, I will try some with thickener.

Well captured and nicely presented images. I've had a little play with these kits myself, and I have to admit my patience was tested with the number of near misses I managed - so congratulations on persevering and producing these wonderful shots.
I really like the milky texture of the base water, particularly in the red version. The tonal variations work extremely well and give the image a strong sense of depth. The grunge style background also suits this type of creative work and adds to the overall presentation.

This is surely a thought provoking fun capturing the droplets. I loved the images previously also but didnt know how to create them. Now I know and they are wonderfully captured , edited and shared with us. Thanks again.
