A recent holiday with photographic friends to the far south coast.
The main purpose of the trip was whale spotting. On our cruises, we were spoilt for opportunities, whales breaching, sounding and displaying. Wonderful experience.
However, on a photographic trip, other opportunities are always looked for. This image was from one of the sunrise outings; unfortunately no spectacular skies. I was looking for that misty water effect and needed to wait for the waves to crash over the line of rocks in the foreground to give a veil effect.
Settings: F11, 4 seconds ISO 64 at 28 mm
The title might seem a bit strange, however, from another angle, apparently, the large rock looks like a Camel, personally, I could not see it, oh well.

Hi Tom,
Greetings my friend.
I loved your image here, and also do like the event of whale watching too. I did go myself for some whale watching. in pacific towards the california coast once, while visiting USA. Saw a dew humpback though; but they were very shy and it took hours to find them. Your current image has wonderful lighting, the fog and the sky made the image almost surreal.
Thank you for sharing.
Have a wonderful holidays ahead.
Cheers.

Tom, I think this is an outstanding seascape. You really get the feeling of a rough sea with the waves sweeping in and breaking on the rocks. The spray and light mist makes it. The crop is perfect and It has great visual impact and interest.   Posted: 12/10/2025 14:33:16

Hi Tom. All I can say is WOW - just WOW! this is a lovely image, well composed and the slow shutter speed really created a wonderful effect with the water. I love the transition from the blue tint at the top to the complementary orange at the bottom. My only suggestion would be to back off just slightly with the saturation of the foreground, which dominates the scene and looks a bit unnatural to my eye. Wonderful capture and probably needs to be printed, framed and given a place of honor!   Posted: 12/14/2025 23:34:41

Hi Tom - This is a striking image that is beautifully captured and processed. There is a natural "Z" pattern that draws the viewers eye. Much like waterfalls, slowing down the water softened it against the harshness of the rocky foreground. I also like the this sky in this context. What's not to like? So no suggestions - well seen and executed!   Posted: 12/18/2025 19:00:08
