American @ 75mph - Wyoming Snow Fence by Ingrid Lockhart

April 2025 - American @ 75mph - Wyoming Snow Fence

About the Image(s)

This image was taken out of our car window on a recent drive to Utah. It was taken with my Sony RX10iv, 1/3200 sec, f4, ISO 100. On I-80 through Wyoming, we saw dozens of snow fences with interesting shadows created by the low angle of the sun. I probably took 30 different examples, but this was one where I actually captured the composition I hoped for. In post processing, I cropped and straightened the image, eliminated some unnecessary debris, used some dehaze and lightened the shadows on the side of the fence to bring out the texture. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Hi Ingrid,
I have always enjoyed your images shot at 75mph. I think this one is one of your better ones. The fence pattern and the shadows work well. The grey snow gives the image of a cold winter day, and the blue sky gives the image life. A very nice images that comes together well.
Best regards,

Beautiful shot. Thanks for the backstory. I'm always amazed at what you can capture out the car window.
I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Ingrid. I have always loved this style of image, I suppose, minimalism. Again, well captured from a car window. Exposuer handled very well to avoid blown out sections and reveal the textures and contours of the show. Details and changing textures/colours on the fence line are also handled well. All together well-seen, captured and processed well   Posted: 04/18/2025 03:00:36

Ingred, excellent example of the strength of simplicity. Love this image. Diagonal lines are very interesting, snow was handles very well and the whole image is quite striking!   Posted: 04/20/2025 20:43:11
