About the Image(s)
This image was taken with my Sony RX 10iv, at a local park near my home. I couldn’t get two birds to be still enough at the same time, so I created a composite of two images, adjusting the backgrounds to match. I also blurred the seed pod in the middle to make it recede into the background and not compete with the birds. I welcome your thoughts.

Hi Ingrid
Well captured image and a great idea to amalgamate two images to get the look you were after. Blurring the background together with the background tones definitely draws the attention to the main subject. As a suggestion flipped the image on the horizon which may draw the viewer more towards the more prominent bird currently on the left. Don't know if it will improve the image but worth a try.

Thanks, Tom. I will try flipping it to see how that works. I also noticed that the tail of the one bird goes out of the frame - a mistake that I should have caught.   Posted: 03/29/2025 20:14:17
Hi Ingrid - It is tough getting critters to cooperate with the camera. Great pivot though as your improvising works well. I agree with Tom's suggestion of flipping the image horizontally. When you do that, the cattail leads your eye in and upward from the bottom corner nicely. A small nit - I wish there was a little more room for each of the bird's tail feathers. There is lots to like - the colors, the composition, your efforts in blurring. Well done!   Posted: 03/14/2025 21:52:54
Thanks, Darcy. I'm really glad you pointed out the crowding of the tail feathers - I should definitely have noticed that before submission!   Posted: 03/29/2025 20:15:23
Hi Ingrid -
I would not have known it was composite without your notes. I think they are blended well together. I concur with Darcy that a little more room on the tail of the left bird would be helpful but well captured!   Posted: 03/18/2025 16:31:16

Thanks, Erin. I really should have noticed the crowding of the tail feathers, and appreciate your suggestion.   Posted: 03/29/2025 20:16:28
Wow, I agree that I never would have known this was a composite. That was great work. My second thought was that I would like just a bit more room around the birds. They look a bit crowded in the frame.
Super job. Thanks for sharing.   Posted: 03/21/2025 13:49:27

Thanks, Karen. You are right about the crowding, and with the miracle of PS, I can definitely remedy that... It makes me realized how helpful this group is!   Posted: 03/29/2025 20:17:59
