About the Image(s)
I have no idea the identity of this butterfly. While not the most beautiful of those at the Butterfly Pavillion that day, unlike other butterflies, he did sit nicely and pose for the camera - so who am I to resist? I wasn't entirely successful in the tight depth of field . . . I think it's called a circle of confusion?

Hi Greg - As always, I appreciate your input.   Posted: 03/14/2025 22:01:30
Hi Darcy.
Lovely point of view to capture this butterfly generally filling the frame with the main subject also works very well. With the background blurred attention is drawn directly to the Butterfly. I agree with you that the DOF is a bit tight as you do seem close, to me the sharp area seem just behind the butterfly eye, on the wing. While it's a shame sometimes in these circumstances you have to take you can get.   Posted: 03/11/2025 20:20:03

Hi Darcy. You are definitely making me want to visit the Butterfly Pavillion again, sooner, rather than later. I love the composition of your image. It is a unique angle and I really like the fact that the leaf in front is in focus, with the leaves in the background blurred. My only suggestion would be to clone some blurry green over the white spots on the right, left and top, which tend to draw the viewer's attention to the edges.   Posted: 03/16/2025 15:48:41
Hi Darcy -
Great capture I love the angle, giving a view of both eyes and the wings. I agree with Ingrid on darkening those few white spots or cloning them green.   Posted: 03/18/2025 16:36:49

Love the "up close and personal" effect! I agree about toning down the lighter spots and I might even consider cropping out a bit of the bottom leaf to move this handsome fella (or gal) more off-center.
Nice job! Thanks for sharing.   Posted: 03/21/2025 13:52:48

Hi Darcy,
Greetings my friend.
A unique angle for a butterfly capture. The details are very very sharp and prominent. Loved the image and nothing more to add. Seems Natgeo shot. Thank you for sharing.
Kindest regards.
Cheers.
