December 2024 - Before the Shot

I've been struggling with my motivation this basketball season due to some outside forces. But going through last week's game and found this one of one of the girls before a foul shot. Cropped in a little closer, and masked the background to decrease some of the saturation as the background at our gym can be really busy. Shot at 1/1000 f 3.2 165mm from the sideline of the court.

First off, congrats on your image in the showcase. I really like your "Before the Shot" image. Having played a lot of hoops in my day, you have captured a lot of the feelings that go into being on the foul line. Focus & concentration and take a deep breath to calm yourself. he blurred background isolates the player and portrays that loneness of being on the fouls line. You truly captured the moment.

Hi Erin. Your handling of this image is great. The crop and desaturation of the background really brings the viewer's attention to the subject and her total concentration. I wouldn't change a thing! Posted: 12/20/2024 21:44:48

You certainly captured the moment - and took me back to MANY moments standing on that foul line! Nice treatment on the background to create that separation of your subject.
