About the Image(s)
I took this image with my Sony RX19iv, Focal length 35mm, ISO 250, F3.5, 1/2000. It was captured a few weeks ago, when the aspens were at their peak color. This was taken in the late afternoon along a winding road in Evergreen Co. We actually stopped the car, although I still had my shutter speed adjusted for a moving car. I was particularly drawn to the glowing aspens in the distance.

Hi Ingrid, beautiful autumnal forest scene you have captured. The glow on the aspens comes through extremely well with that glow acting as a contrast to the hard surface of the tree trunks. The distance vista adds to that depth of the image.
For my eye the outright trunks seem to stop the viewer from moving into the image forcing them to view from your selected viewpoint, which is very interesting effect that I like.
My only query, most of our upright trees have a very much white base to the trunks these seem to be very much a yellow hue, I was wondering if that is reflected light or are they naturally more into the warm tones in their trunk color.
Well seen and captured particular for a stationary shot :)   Posted: 11/08/2024 05:50:34

Hi Ingrid - What a wonderful capture of the aspens at their peak in Colorado ~ you chose a beautiful place to live. Tom's observation about the trunks forcing the viewer to see the image as you intend is an interesting insight - it works too! Getting that depth by seeing through the stand of trees and having the 'glow' offset by pines and spruces makes for a nice composition that shows off the brilliant color of the season. I agree with Tom about the foreground tree trunks holding too much yellow as well. I'll admit I didn't notice until he pointed it out, although I believe a mask and a slight adjustment on a few select trunks would be an easy fix. Thanks for sharing!   Posted: 11/12/2024 01:32:04

Hi Ingrid,
Greetings my friend.
First of the current edition is magnificent. DoF for the scene; as stationary capture seems okay to me. Yes I agree both with Tom and Darcy for pointing out the yellow hue trunk of the trees. The entire scene is well seen and presented.
Thank you.
Cheers.
