About the Image(s)

f10.0 1/20 ISO 400 Tripod, Sony A7111
I struggled with the subject of contrast, went for B&W as I thought it showed contrast better.
converted to B&W with Nik SilverFX, played with the sliders until was happy with the image.
Deliberately cropped to make the posts the frame.

This is a beautiful shot with great contrast. The composition is perfect, with the posts being the frame for the image and leading us back into the platform.   Posted: 08/09/2026 00:11:46

Great composition with the lines of the train and posts forming a set of leading lines down the platform. The B&W treatment works well to convey that underground feel. B&W works well for contrast which is why I went down that route too.   Posted: 08/11/2026 09:01:01

Technically perfect. Good balance of aperture, shutter speed, and ISO, not having to go into the extreme of any one. The image is sharply focused from end-to-end. Well done.
Compositionally excellent. The columns naturally draw the eye into the scene and your crop capitalizes on that. I'd like to suggest cropping just a tad bit more. The very first column on the left isn't adding much. Consider moving in to mid-way between it and the next column.
As for contrast, I might consider pushing your whites up a bit more, the columns are a tad on the grey side. Not a lot, just enough to give them a little pop.
It's intriguing that there were no people and you had the luxury of a tripod, makes me think you planned this shot. -which I always like. If so, could you get someone to sit on the edge of the second bench and look down the corridor as if waiting for someone. Just a thought.
Overall great image. Well done, thank you for sharing.   Posted: 08/12/2026 21:12:14

Excellent monochrome. You made great use of leading lines. The light at the end of the tunnel adds mystery.   Posted: 08/14/2026 02:32:05
