A common summer sight turned into an abstract image. The use of black and white makes the lines pop. The pole coming out of the lower left corner leads the eye up and into the photo. I like the proportions of the crop, it emphasizes the lines closest to the fabric.   Posted: 08/09/2026 00:09:23

Technically excellent. You didn't list your parameters but there is a good balance overall of depth of field and shutter speed. For such limited view it's important that everything is in focus and frozen
Compositionally excellent. I like the crop - 16x9 - 16x10 maybe - and the way the shaft draws you in and the one rib send you off into the corner. Makes it seem like it goes on into infinity. Fun to look at something we've all used but rarely look at for any time. Umbrellas always seem to be deployed in haste and then we tend to look down for puddles.
On the contrast front, personally, I would tweak the highlights a tad, some are blown out, and deepen the blacks.
Overall, an excellent image. Good eye for that which we often overlook.

Hi Steven, a wonderful subject, well placed , with the main strut leading you into the centre, Image is sharp and the B&W works very well, I like the light in the bottom left attracting your attention as a starting point, I think the blown out areas on the struts actually enhance by creating more contrast.   Posted: 08/17/2026 12:15:44
