July 2026 - Harvest time

About the Image(s)

A familiar sight here in the early summer as the first bales of hay are collected. Not as attractive as the traditional haystacks and hay bales but it a quick and easy method of ensuring the cut hay remains dry.

What I did:
As usual, I've kept any manipulation to a minimum
Cropped slightly to improve composition
Resized for this Group

I've never seen haystacks like this, but it makes sense to cover them to keep them dry.
The large one at the bottom of the image starts off the line that leads us up and through the photo. There is even lighting and natural looking color.
I would crop just a little more off on the right, where the dark shadow in the tree starts.   Posted: 07/05/2026 23:31:05

Hi Steven, nice rural scene, your eye is drawn immediately to the large bale, you then follow the line, meandering around, taking in the scene, the yellow and the variety of green colours harmonise well to create a peaceful scene, lovely clouds in the sky, the power lines add a tension to the image that brings you back to now. well spotted.   Posted: 07/11/2026 07:18:32
