Spanish Wedding Dance by Barbara Dunn

January 2025 - Spanish Wedding Dance

About the Image(s)

This was a presentation of traditional folk dancing done in Northern Spain. This is a wedding dance in which the bride wears a large basket filled with bread on her head to represent prosperity and fertility. It is considered good luck for the marriage if she can dance without letting the basket fall.

Very colourful and intricate clothing. It seems very ritualistic and traditional but looks a little incongruous as they seem to be just dancing in a hall.   Posted: 01/14/2025 14:50:54

It's nice and colorful photo. Is the bride on the far right? Can't see those were bread.
