I went to my first air show earlier this week. I was a little leery about going for photography but several members of our photo club encouraged my participation. In short it was a great day.
The organizers followed the schedule to a tee and many aspects of flight took to the air. This image was captured around 4:00 PM as it opened the show, using Nikon z7ii at ISO 400, f/13.0 at 1/640 s with a 24-70mm lens.

I really love this picture ! You got a great sky, it really shows the airman/woman, and the flag is perfect. Scary yet really patriotic. Exposure is great. I would have liked to see how far off the ground they were. But maybe the person would have looked too small then. I think you had a good day !! Posted: 07/11/2024 17:13:49

It's amazing that you caught this with a 24-70mm and I guess that you've cropped some to get the close view. I wonder if it would have made a difference to open the aperture to say, f8 and get a faster shutter speed and/or lower ISO. The light seems bright enough to handle the different settings.

A great airshow capture! It does take some practice to photograph fast unfolding action in the sky. Red, white and blue colors at top and bottom here complement each other nicely, and the skydiver is discernible. Last May, I watched an airshow at Dover AFB, DE with similar skydivers.
