About the Image(s)
This image was taken during a recent workshop on shooting moving water in rapids near Clinton, New Jersey. We all photographed with tripods and at slow shutter speeds to blur the water. I photographed with my D750 Nikon plus Tamron 70-300mm lens at 250 mm, f/40, 1/2 sec, ISO50 and 2 stops under the meter reading. In Photoshop, I cropped the image. In Adobe Camera Raw, I further adjusted Clarity, Dehaze, and Saturation.

Great image of the moving water. Having the rock there really shows the water speed.   Posted: 07/12/2025 16:11:51
This is so lovely and peaceful looking. I love it. I wouldn't change a thing ! Great exposure, motion of the water, all is just so nice !
Could you explain something? You said you shot it two stops under the meter reading. Was that done using the Exposure Compensation button, or did you simply underexpose? I always like to hear peoples' ideas.

Hi Donna, I'm glad you enjoyed this image which is probably the best one I shot at this workshop! Since I was photographing in aperture priority mode, I did use the exposure compensation button. The small aperture (f/40) and low ISO (50) gave me the slow shutter speed needed to blur the water.   Posted: 07/25/2025 22:08:31

Mark, agree with Donna. Wouldn't change a thing. Love the earth tone colors, perfect crop, simplicity and detail. Very nicely done.   Posted: 07/14/2025 00:32:38
I do find a water in motion image attractive and in this case, soothing too.
Light coming from the right gives it a glow on both the rock and the water around it which adds to the overall scene. Well focussed too.   Posted: 07/14/2025 05:43:16
