About the Image(s)
Believe it or not, you can see a rainbow in the middle of the day from Tunnel View at Yosemite, if you are there at exactly the right time on a sunny day. The sun hits, moves, and the rainbow lasts about 10 minutes.
I took this with my Nikon D7000, Tamron 18-200 lens, 1/800 sec., F 7.1, 130 mm at ISO 200.
I took it into Lightroom and then Photoshop, and used an adjustment layer to give some boost to the saturation of the rainbow colors.

A beautiful view Donna which you have captured well. The green of the surrounding trees contrasts with the white of the water and the colours of the rainbow. The rocks with water flowing over and through them gives depth and skillfully guides the viewer's eye to the main game, the rainbow and waterfall.
My thoughts only - would you consider cropping both sides where the trees are? To me, the trees are distracting from the centre of the image which is the star of the show. Keep some tree to frame the waterfall.
The water must have been flowing extremely fast to still be creamy at 1/800th second ss. Amazing - both the natural phenomenon and your image.   Posted: 07/14/2025 05:17:30

Hi Donna.
Your crop is closer to what I was thinking, keeping the waterfall on the rule of thirds line but less trees because in my view they are a frame and not the main subject (except that little one leaning in which is a nice extra point of interest).   Posted: 07/16/2025 00:19:19

Donna, beautiful image. The flowing water, complemented by the mist at the bottom of the pool is lovely. Of course the rainbow adds the finishing touch. Also, I do like the crop better. Great capture!   Posted: 07/15/2025 12:44:35
Thanks Peter. Of course beauty is always in the eye of the beholder. I will have to think the crop over. I'm not sure.   Posted: 07/16/2025 01:33:42
Donna, this is a beautifully composed scenic of the Falls! The water flows down from the top and out towards the viewer. You've controlled exposure quite well for a sunny, contrasty day - there is ample detail in the shadows. I also agree with Meredith and Peter about cropping in from the right. However, the tree hugging the falls at right should be retained as an internal frame.   Posted: 07/25/2025 21:27:32
