February 2025 - Icelandic Rainbow

This image is from the first traveling day of my Iceland trip last October. It is one of several "grabshots" taken through the window of our moving tour bus. Not surprisingly, I had only a few minutes before the rainbow disappeared! I shot handheld with my D750 Nikon plus 24-120mm Nikon lens at 120mm, f/5.6, 1/2500 sec, IOS320. In Lightroom, I adjusted Exposure, Highlights, Shadows, Clarity and Saturation. In Photoshop, I cropped and cloned out a few distracting details.

This is one of those rare events, isn't it, and you were ready with your camera ! Lovely colors, very pretty.
I see a dust spot right in the middle of your picture, you can remove that with the spot remove tool in PS.
I think you'd do better with a little less of the blue sky above the rainbow, just crop down a bit from the top. You could even crop some from the left. Here's my suggestion, if you like it. For some reason some of the bottom is cropped off but I didn't do that -- PSA did it somehow. Posted: 02/16/2025 22:04:03

The colours of the rainbow make this image Mark. The clouds, especially the lower band add to the mood. The mistiness over the mountains gives nice depth and it is a shame that some of your foreground has been lost to mystery cropping.
I agree with Donna, you could crop down from the top and some from the left too.

Mark, nice capture. My eye is drawn to the rainbow being interrupted by the clouds. I also like the crop on the left. Posted: 02/22/2025 03:21:51
